Privacy Policy
What the extension collects, what it doesn't, and why.
Overview
ReviewReply AI is a Chrome extension that helps hospitality operators draft replies to guest reviews on Booking.com and Google. When you click the AI Reply button next to a review, the extension sends the review text to an AI provider you choose (Anthropic or OpenAI) using your own API key, and displays the generated reply for you to paste or insert.
This policy describes what the ReviewReply AI extension collects, stores, and transmits. It is a product-level policy and applies regardless of where you installed the extension from.
What the extension collects
The extension only reads data from the review you explicitly choose to respond to. Specifically:
- Review text — the body of the review the guest wrote.
- Reviewer name — the name displayed next to the review (first name or handle as shown publicly on Booking or Google).
- Star rating — the numeric rating where visible.
- Platform and property name — used to give the AI context (e.g. "Booking.com, MS Sparrow Hostel").
Nothing else is read. The extension does not scan your browsing history, track your activity across the web, monitor your keystrokes, access your location, or read pages you have not explicitly engaged with by clicking the AI Reply button.
Where the data goes
When you click AI Reply, the extension sends the collected fields above to the AI provider you selected in settings:
- Anthropic — Privacy Policy
- OpenAI — Privacy Policy
The request travels directly from your browser to the provider using your own API key. The extension does not operate any intermediate server — the maintainer has no access to the reviews you send, the replies returned, or your API key. There is no database, analytics pipeline, or logging backend associated with ReviewReply AI.
What is stored locally
The following is stored in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) and never leaves your machine except as described above:
- Your API key — stored locally, sent only in outgoing requests to the provider it belongs to.
- Your tone, language, sign-off, and provider preferences.
- A local history of generated replies (so you can revisit past drafts inside the extension popup). You can clear this at any time from the popup.
Uninstalling the extension deletes all locally stored data, including your API key and reply history.
What the extension does NOT collect
- Health or medical information
- Financial or payment information
- Location data (GPS, IP geolocation, or otherwise)
- Web browsing history
- Keystroke, mouse-movement, or scroll tracking
- Personal communications (emails, chats, DMs)
- Passwords or website login credentials
- Any data from pages you did not interact with
Use of data
Data sent to the AI provider is used solely to generate your review reply for that single request. The extension does not:
- Sell or transfer data to any third party.
- Use data for advertising, profiling, or analytics.
- Use data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
- Use data for any purpose unrelated to generating your review reply.
How the AI provider (Anthropic or OpenAI) handles the request is governed by their respective privacy policies and your account settings with them. If you need full data isolation, consult the API provider's data-retention controls on your account.
Permissions explained
- storage — to save your settings and reply history locally.
- host permissions for Booking and Google domains — so the AI Reply button can appear on review pages.
- host permissions for api.anthropic.com and api.openai.com — so the extension can call the AI provider you chose.
Changes to this policy
If material changes are made, the updated policy will be published at this URL with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
